The newest, the most expensive, the most luxurious and the only 5 star hotel in Essaouira, The Sofitel Mogador will in no way disappoint. As is the way with Sofitels, Western comforts and facilities have been infused with local traditions, so expect tiled floors, thuya wood, ochre colouring, elaborate silver teapots and general Marocainerie at large and on the loose, as far as French boundaries of good taste permit. You’re also right across from the beach, so as all the rooms are balconied anyway, you would do better to look out to sea than being aloft on the backside of the hotel, superintending the swimming pool, lovely though it may be.
