Santa Eulalia, Ibiza's third largest resort is only 21 kms from the airport and is a beloved destination for families and those seeking a quieter holiday. There is a beautiful, palm-lined promenade running the length of the broad and sandy beach, (which is perfectly safe for the kids), and some excellent hotels and apartments in and around the town itself.

he local authorities and business community have worked together and invested lavishly to maintain its attractions to a more selective visitor and it is now much sought after by those desiring a quieter holiday and is a firm favourite for families. A good example of this investment is the splendid seafront Promenade, reclaimed from the sea, which spans the length of the wide, curved beach, adorned with palm trees, miniature gardens and a large fountain. Facing the sea, walk along to the extreme right, till you can go no further to Mariners beach, where the river enters the sea in a confluence of blues.

Santa Eulalia has a long-established reputation as the island's gastronomic and cultural centre. Art Galleries, the beautiful and exclusive Yacht Marina, some of the island's best restaurants, some very exclusive shopping, and a thriving all-year community, ensure that life in Santa Eulalia is led at a rather slower and more relaxing pace, than in Ibiza or San Antonio. There are some excellent bars here, but none of the clubbers or that famous Ibiza nightlife.

12. February - Patron Saint's day in Santa Eulalia - It is carnival season for the whole of Ibiza, all the island's children dress up in costume and parade through the streets of each town. Of course in Santa Eulalia on their Patron Saint's day, this is a festival Not To Be Missed!
Activities:
You can walk around the tangle of narrow streets - few cars make it up here. In addition to the 16th-century cathedral, visit the Museu d'Art Contemporani, the local modern art museum, and the Museu Arqueologic, a beautifully laid out museum charting the island's history from prehistoric times to the Islamic period, which ended in the 13th century. For a total change of pace, do a daytrip by ferry to sleepy Formentera Island, a world apart from the other Balearics
