Pruhonice is a pleasant village with quite a large expatriate community, just a few minutes south of Prague 4, and a popular area with well-heeled locals and expats. Home to one of the nicest parks in Europe with some rare species of flora and fauna, the area is protected by UNESCO.
For shopaholics there is a large shopping centre in a new commercial zone nearby.
Facilities: Hypernova is a huge hypermarket where you can buy anything from food to clothes to electronics. Good prices, good quality merchandise, and surprisingly well-organized for its massive size.
Places to visit: Pruhonice Country Park houses a 13th century chateau just beyond Prague's borders. It was restored at the end of the 19th century in Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance style. The park with a botanical and horticultural preserve is the main attraction here, the perfect site for a picnic or day trip.
