Just beyond the Old Town, Poniente lies to the west of Levante, with its huge, golden beach and slightly more relaxed atmosphere than the Levante area. Still offering fantastic facilities and with an almost equally mammoth amount of sun loungers as Levante Beach, Poniente is ideal for a slower-paced holiday whilst still having fun in the sun. Great for families and couples, the clean, award winning beach and variety of nightlife contribute to Benidorm's everlasting popularity. For those interested in the local area, a visit to the Old Town may surprise you, with its cobbled, winding streets.
Beaches:
Benidorm's beaches are justifiably famous, and Poniente is one of the major beaches in the area. Slightly larger the Levante beach at just over 3 kilometres and approximately 146,240 square metres of baby fine, golden sand, Poniente beach tends to be slightly less crowded than Levante, but still attracts lots of tourists, so it is by no means secluded. Similar to Levante beach, its has had Blue Flag status since 1987, which is an award for outstanding cleanliness and quality, which have to be maintained every year to retain its status. Life saving timetable is 09:00 - 20:00 during the summer, and 10:00 until 17:00 during winter, and provides disabled acess and ramps for disabled visitors.
Entertainment:
A peep in the windows at Carriages is usually enough to give curious passers by a reason to venture inside one of the most well-appointed cabarets on Calle Gerona, with atmospheric lighting a good variety of performers.
Attractions:
Aqualandia is one of Europe's largest water parks, and kids and adults will have a great time. Lots of different shutes, boards, rapids, pools and waterfalls will provide enough splash to keep you amused for hours..try one of the black holes for a bit of an adrenaline rush. For the little ones there are gentler rides and there are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants for when you need a rest.
Gastronomy:
At Greeven's International Bar you can sit outside and see the beach beyond through the breezy palms of the Parque del Elche. Hard work but someone’s gotta do it. Great value food and a surely record-breaking range of beers and spirits.
La Solana is a
café bar with food and entertainment, in an elevated spot not far from Poniente. Breakfasts, snacks, tapas, and meal deals served noon till 16:00 and from then from 19:00 - 02:00. Live music Thursday, Flamenco dancers on Mondays.
