Map | Olympic Port Hotels | See all hotels in the area of Barcelona (City)

The Olympic Port and Village area was originally built in 1988 to prepare for the 1992 Olympics and has been a very popular area of the city ever since. During the day its busy with shoppers and by night it is a very fashionable area for tourists and locals looking for the coolest clubs and bars. The area is easily recognisable by the two skyscrapers which are the luxury Hotel Arts and the Mapfre Tower.

Location:
On the coastline, with easy access to the beach area and main promenade. To reach the city centre it is about 10 minutes by metro, but there are so many sights and sounds in this cosmopolitan city many like to just stroll around and take in the great scenery.

Getting There:
The nearest Metro stop is Ciutadella Vila Olimpica (Yellow Line, L4). You then have a 10 minute walk to the Barcelona Olympic Port and the beach areas.

Shopping:
Maremagnum offers a huge shopping complex with almost everything under one roof, and was orignally built as part of Barcelona port's renovation. Chock-full of all the latest shops and boutiques with many good quality eateries and cafés at your disposal. On the upper floors you wil find many bars and clubs which attract a young crowd, particularly at weekends.

Worth a visit....:
The Aquarium is a unique transparent building and is a major tourist attraction on the waterfront. The tanks hold the widest possible variety of marine life from all the world's seas...keep an eye out for the sharks though! Admission is approximately 10 euros and there are discounts for visitors over 65 years old.

Nightlife:
Catwalk is an impressive club playing house, latin house, R 'n' B and practically every style of music you can think of. Open until late, be sure to dress to impress! Located on Ramon Trias Fargas 2-4. For those who don't mind a flutter, try your luck at the Casino, which recently caused controversy for moving to the more central location of the Olympic Port. All the usual roulette tables and other games are here, plus Baccara, a nigh club playing mainly blues and soul music. Located at the Marina Village Marina, 19-21. Fritz Mar is one of the most popular bars in the city, which draws good DJ's from across Europe, and a modern, young clientele. Address: Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta.

Gastronomy:
Try Al Passatore, a relaxed, Italian restaurant with terrific views of the harbour. Traditional Neapolitan cuisine with mouth-watering home-made desserts. Located on Moll de Gregal, 25.
