Mala Strana, or "Little Quarter" is located in Prague 1, the most central area of Prague. This quarter is a particularly calm area and features a lot of Baroque architecture. You will see truly stunning buildings and scenery, with lots to explore.
Where to go:
This area has many upmarket restaurants, bars and clubs. For authentic Czech cuisine try the Sovovy Mlyny, which not only offers a great menu but spectacular views of the weir and Charles Bridge.
For a more international choice, Kampa Park is a veritable who's who of dining establishments, whose famous clientele are proudly displayed on the walls. Prices are not cheap but you are guaranteed an exquisite nouvelle cuisine dining experience.
St. Nicholas Café is principally a wine bar but attracts all drinkers with its live, jazz music in a cosy atmosphere.
Ujezd is a hedonistic, young club with three floors and live music or DJ's. The cellar plays to a punk crowd whilst upstairs upstairs is a more eclectic chill-out zone.
Getting Around:
Being so centrally located, public transport is plentiful and frequent, running from early morning to late at night.
Places to visit:
Mala Stana lies just opposite Charles Bridge, and is home to many foreign embassies, palaces, gardens and baroque churches, including the church of St. Nicholas. Built between 1702 and 1753, frequent concerts and recitals are held there, notably the works of Mozart.
Worth a visit....:
A small imitation of the Eiffel Tower, Petrin Tower was built in 1891 for the Jubilee Exhibition. It is obly 60 metres tall, but taking into account that it stands on Petrin Hill, it does provide a great view of the highest peak in the Czech Republic, Snezka. From the Observation Tower you can have a good panoramic view of Prague.
