This is a very popular resort with British tourists and has a beautiful marina. Lagos always has a refreshing breeze from the sea. The town itself is full of history and has many shops, bars, restaurants and night clubs which makes it a lively place to be.
A minute of History:
Situated in the extreme Southwest of the Algarve region of Portugal, the city of Lagos has its roots in the ancient Roman settlement of Lacóbriga. It also probable that prior to the Romans the Phoenicians had a settlement on or close to the present town. Steeped in history, the ancient town of Lagos is dominated by the centuries old fortress standing guard at the entrance of the river.

Transfer time from Faro airport approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.
General Information:
Today, Lagos boasts a magnificent new Marina beside the promenade. Close to the town, and just along the coastline can be found golden sandy beaches. In the evenings the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Lagos has much to offer with chic boutiques, a large choice of restaurants many in traditional style and a superb pedestrianised area with a wealth of cafe-bars shops, and restaurants.
Where to go:
Near to Lagos is a small beach village of Burgau. Across the river from Lagos is Meia Praia, a very long sandy beach sheltered from the north by a gentle slope dotted with comfortable villas. The once upon a time fishing village of Praia da Luz is now devoted to the quieter side of the tourist trade and residents from colder climates.
Facilities:
The town’s more recently constructed Marina presents a lovely picture and this harbour is the first sight a visitor has of Lagos. Besides the boats that find it convenient as a permanent mooring it is usually full of yachts passing through, to and from the Mediterranean. The municipal council has constructed a modern Cultural Centre in which various exhibitions and culturally related events are held during the year. In the Marina different boat tours and deep sea-fishing outings can be booked.
