Holesevice is located just north of the city centre, in Prague 7. It is the area around the city's main harbour and docklands and close to many attractions. The large Stromovka park is close-by. It is approximately 10-15 minutes by metro to the city centre.
Getting Around: The nearest metro staion is Nádraži Holešovice, on line C, and it is about 10-15 minutes to the city centre.
Art and Culture: This area is home to the National Gallery Collection of Modern and contemporary Art. Witness the moody landscapes of Jan Preisler or the mind-blowing abstracts of Frantisek Kupka, to name but a few. There is also a small collection of Western European paintings by Picasso, and there is nearly always a temporary exhibition of Czech or foreign art on display.
Leisure: One for the kiddies and the young at heart, Seaworld is Prague's little known aquarium. From huge manta rays to deadly scorpions and intersting corals will provide an afternoons entertainment. It doesn't rival other seaworlds in terms of size but is an interesting detour. Please note signs are in Czech only.
Places to visit: Home to the largest planetarium in the Czech Republic, this venue offers the country's best intergalactic show on its sky-like Kosmorama viewing screen. laser shows and interactive exhibits will keep the kids occupied and the planetarium also has great gift shop with books, posters and maps of the stars and planets.
