Andratx is one of the best known resorts of Mallorca. Situated in the southwest area of the island, it occupies the last rocks of the "Serra de Tramuntana". The municipality has an extension of 82.55 square kilometres, distributed around 5 town centres: Andratx, Port d'Andratx, S'Arraco, Sant Elm and Camp de Mar.
A minute of History: The village of Andratx is located in the southwest of Mallorca. Founded in the 17th century, it features a remarkable weir church which was a stronghold against pirates and invaders in the past. The village transmits an unusual historical atmosphere.
Location: From Palma Airport follow road signs to Andratx, a journey of approximately 35 to 45 minutes. Approaching Andratx town, you will drive down a hill, towards the bottom of which you will pass a petrol Station on your left. A few yards ahead, you will approach a left turn road junction, sign posted Port d'Andratx. Turn left and after 4 or 5 kilometres, you will arrive at Port d'Andratx, entering a one way system as you turn right. Keep to the right-hand side of the road, as the road off to the left takes you into the town.
General Information: The scenery is mainly mountainous, scattered with pretty coves and the beautiful beaches in Camp de Mar and Sant Elm. The contrast between the mountain and the sea, with the lovely wide valleys of Andratx and S'Arraco, make up the particular varied countryside that attracts visitors throughout the year. Only 25 kilometres from Palma, Andratx is an ideal place for relaxing with its many residential areas and hotels. Port d'Andratx, is visited year after year by numerous famous people and prestigious artists.
Where to go: Only 25 Kilometres from Palma, it is a great place for day tours too. Hang around in the harbour area, or take a walk in the surrounding hills. The lack of sandy beaches has protected this area from becoming another development for mass tourism.
Events: Markets: Every Wednesday there is a market where you can buy fruits, vegetables, souvenirs, clothes, etc (except bank holidays).
Fairs: The first Sunday of May the "Fira Agricola i Ramadera" (farming and agriculture fair) takes place.

16th July: Verge del Carme (Port d'Andratx),
August: Festa di Moros y Cristianos (Sant Elm),
28th August: Sant Agusti (S'Arraco),
8th September: Verge de la Trapa (S'Arraco).
Alternative Activities: Near to Puerto d'Andratx are the beaches of Camp de Mar and that of San Telm, which is sheltered by Dragonera island. Andratx is particularly enjoyable because it is very exclusive and relatively unknown to the package holiday market.
