Alaior is a small industrial town with reputated shoe production. Its historical center with narrow lanes, white-washed walls and manorial houses of 17th and 18th century certainly is worth a visit. In the surroundings there are highly interesting prehistorical remains: the taula and talayot of Torralba, and the settlement of Torre d'en Gaumés. Of somewhat more recent date is the Paleo-Christian Basilica de Son Bou.
Beaches: Alaior beaches:
Cala'n Porter - One of the nicest beaches on the island and Alaior's hangout for tanning, swimming and snorkelling. Long sandy stretches and lovely warm water combines with all the facilities of a well established holiday town.
Son Bou-San Jaime - The longest beach on Menorca and plenty of room to find your piece of paradise away from the crowds. Perfect for the family with a host of eating and drinking establishments on your doorstep. Windsurfing is popular here and equipment can be rented.
